About me

Hi! I’m Nisreen Elias, a UX leader, designer, and multidisciplinary creative based in Ottawa, Ontario. With over 12 years of experience, I’ve developed a deep understanding of design thinking, cognitive science, and strategic problem-solving. My professional journey has spanned roles in UX design, user research, graphic design, web design, interaction design, communications, and digital strategy, both in the public service and as a freelancer.

Professional & Educational Background

I currently work as a Team Leader and Senior UX Advisor at Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, where I lead UX strategy for government digital platforms. My education includes a DEC in Graphic & Web Design (CEGEP Heritage College, 2015) and a Bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science (Carleton University, 2021). Additionally, I’m certified through the CRLA International Mentor/Peer Educator Program, and have a passion for tutoring and mentoring students and peers to help them grow in their careers.

My Artistic Side

Beyond my professional career, I’m also an artist and photographer. My art collection, showcased in this shop, includes digital copies of my watercolour and acrylic art—all created with the intention of bringing beauty and simplicity into everyday spaces. My artistic process is rooted in balance, colour and a love for creating pieces that resonate on a personal level.

What I Offer

In addition to my art collection, I offer design services, specifically design, web and UX consulting. I bring together human-centered design, strong design principles, and a background in cognitive science to create solutions that are thoughtful, intuitive, and designed with a deep understanding of real human behavior and interaction.
